Hackers could exploit vulnerabilities in these systems to disable fire alarms, sprinklers, or HVAC functions, hindering firefighting efforts and accelerating the spread of fire.
Even in the absence of direct cyberattacks, internet outages can disrupt the operation of active fire protection systems which rely on internet connectivity for monitoring and control. Without internet access, alarms may not be triggered, sprinklers may not activate, and remote control capabilities may be disabled, posing significant risks to occupants’ safety.
